Welcome to our Bicycle Friendly Driver Program
This curriculum was developed by the League of Michigan Bicyclists and grant funded by the Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Throughout this course we will cover the rights and responsibilities of cyclists on the roadway as well as what you, as a motor vehicle operator, can do to safely share the road with cyclists.
We will also discuss what it means to share the road and why that is the best practice. We’ll show you what it means for a cyclist to take the lane and why a person riding a bike may need to do so.
After completing this class, you will have a better understanding of the most common crashes involving people driving cars and people riding bikes as well as how to avoid them.
Once you have completed all lessons in the course, you will have the opportunity to take an online exam. Those who pass with a score of 80% or better become certified Bicycle Friendly Drivers and have the chance to take our pledge and receive a free window decal.
