As Far Right as Practicable
Michigan law requires a cyclist riding in the roadway way to ride “as far right as practicable”. The previous video explained at times it is unsafe for a cyclist to ride as far right as possible on the roadway and according to Michigan Law there are a four key reasons a cyclist may be riding away from the curb.
The video below explains these four exceptions. Continue to keep in mind the cyclist is the person who determines the safest place to ride on the roadway and these decisions are based on many factors (some which may not be obvious to the driver) including riding experience, time of day, fatigue, and type of bicycle/equipment.
